Notifications Panel
The Notifications Panel keeps organisation admins informed of important events in real time with no page refresh required. Notifications are delivered instantly and are stored so you won't miss anything, even if you're away.
Accessing the Notifications Panel
Click the bell icon in the top navigation bar to open the Notifications Panel. If you have unread notifications, a badge will appear on the icon.
You can dismiss individual notifications by clicking the ✕ next to each one, or clear everything at once using Dismiss All at the top of the panel.
Who Receives Notifications?
Notifications are visible to Admins only. Onboardees will not see the Notifications Panel.
Notification Types
Onboarding Complete
When an onboardee finishes their onboarding process, a notification will appear showing:
The notification title: Onboarding Complete
The onboardee's name and their associated organisation (e.g. Chris Testing1 · Horizon Housing)
A timestamp showing when the event occurred
Clicking on their name will navigate you to their Contact record within WorkZerk.
This lets you know immediately when someone has completed onboarding without needing to check the dashboard manually.
Linked Contact Field Updated
If a linked contact field is updated — for example, when a contact's company name changes — you'll receive a notification showing:
The notification title describing the change (e.g. Linked Contact field Company was updated to Horizon Housing Limited)
The affected onboardee's name and organisation
A timestamp
This is useful for staying across changes that may affect compliance records or reporting, particularly when contact data is shared or linked between systems.
Bank Details Changed (Warning)
If an onboardee changes any bank-related fields during or after onboarding — including bank name, BSB, or bank account number — a warning alert will appear in the Notifications Panel.
This alert is styled differently from standard notifications to draw your attention, as changes to banking information may require manual verification before processing payroll or payments.
Tip: If you receive a bank details warning, it's good practice to verify the change directly with the onboardee before updating any payment systems, or creating a separate portal specifically for updating bank account details which includes a verification step.
Real-Time Updates
Notifications appear instantly as events happen — there's no need to refresh the page
If the panel is already open, new notifications will appear automatically
You'll see the notification badge update on the bell icon without any manual action
A red dot on the bell means there are notifications that are new (not dismissed)
Persistence
Notifications are stored and will persist across sessions. If you log out and log back in, any notifications you haven't dismissed will still be there waiting for you. Dismissed notifications are not retrievable, as they are designed as warnings and are not the ‘single source of truth’. For example, an Onboarding record is created whenever an Onboardee is onboardee is onboarded, and this cannot be deleted (only archived) to preserve the audit trail).
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get notifications via email as well? Currently, notifications are only shown within the WorkZerk platform via the Notifications Panel. Email notifications may be available in a future update.
Do notifications expire? Notifications remain in the panel until you dismiss them. There is no automatic expiry.
