Will WorkZerk Work in My Country? Performance & Latency Guide

WorkZerk is hosted on Microsoft Azure in Sydney, Australia, providing fast, reliable performance with Australian data sovereignty under the Australian Privacy Principles.

But what if your team, contractors, or workforce are based outside Australia?

Because WorkZerk is built on Blazor Server technology, every click and interaction travels between your browser and our Sydney servers in real time. This means network latency (the round-trip time for data to travel between you and our servers) directly affects how responsive the platform feels.

The good news? For most countries in the Asia-Pacific region, WorkZerk performs exceptionally well — and for many, it feels virtually indistinguishable from a locally hosted application.

How Latency Affects Your Experience

Under 60ms — Feels instant, like a locally hosted app.

60–100ms — Smooth and responsive with no noticeable delay.

100–150ms — Usable, with occasional slight lag on rapid interactions.

Over 150ms — Noticeable delays, not recommended for daily use.

For context, most people cannot perceive any delay below 100ms. Even at 150ms, WorkZerk remains functional, but rapid form-filling and navigation may start to feel slightly sluggish.

Excellent Performance (Under 60ms)

These countries enjoy a near-local experience with WorkZerk.

Australia — 5–30ms

Home region with the fastest possible performance.

New Zealand — 25–40ms

Direct submarine cable routes across the Tasman make this virtually indistinguishable from domestic Australian use.

Papua New Guinea — 40–50ms

Strong mining and resources sector with significant contractor onboarding needs. English is an official language.

Fiji & Pacific Islands — 50–70ms

Tourism, mining, and construction sectors. English widely spoken.

Very Good Performance (60–100ms)

These countries experience smooth, responsive performance suitable for daily use by administrators and onboardees alike.

Singapore — 80–90ms

Indonesia — 70–90ms

Philippines — 90–100ms

Malaysia — 90–100ms

Hong Kong — 90–100ms

Vietnam — 90–110ms

Thailand — 100–110ms

Good Performance (100–140ms)

These countries can use WorkZerk effectively, though users performing very rapid, intensive admin tasks may occasionally notice a slight delay.

Taiwan — 100–120ms

Japan — 110–130ms

South Korea — 120–130ms

India — 120–150ms

What About Onboardees?

Remember that WorkZerk's onboarding experience is passwordless and browser-based so your contractors, employees, volunteers, or other onboardees simply open a tokenised link or scan a QR code. They don't need to install an app or create an account.

For onboardees, the latency impact is even less noticeable because their interactions tend to be sequential (read a document, upload a file, sign a declaration) rather than the rapid navigation an administrator performs. Even at 100–140ms, the onboarding experience remains smooth and comfortable.

Factors That Can Affect Real-World Latency

The figures above represent typical latency under normal conditions. Actual performance can vary based on:

  • Internet connection quality — Users on fibre or business-grade broadband will see the best results. Mobile connections or rural broadband may add 30–80ms on top of the base latency.

  • ISP routing — Some internet service providers route traffic less efficiently than others. In rare cases, traffic may take an indirect path to Sydney.

  • Peak usage times — Network congestion during peak hours can increase latency slightly.

  • Device performance — Older devices or browsers may add small delays to rendering, independent of network latency.

For administrators who rely on WorkZerk as a daily tool, we recommend a stable broadband connection for the best experience.

Data Sovereignty & Hosting

Regardless of where your users are located, all WorkZerk data is stored on Microsoft Azure servers in Sydney, Australia. This means:

  • Your data is governed by Australian law and the Australian Privacy Principles.

  • Data never leaves Australian shores for storage or processing.

  • You benefit from Microsoft Azure's enterprise-grade security, including encryption at rest and in transit.

  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud provides ongoing threat protection.

  • Mandatory multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enforced for all administrator accounts via Auth0.

For organisations operating across multiple countries, this provides a single, clear jurisdiction for data governance which is a significant advantage over platforms that distribute data across regions.

Summary

WorkZerk is purpose-built for the Asia-Pacific region. If your business operates in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, or the broader APAC region, you can confidently use WorkZerk knowing that performance will be fast and responsive for both your admin team and your onboardees.

Not sure if WorkZerk will work well in your location? The simplest test is to visit au.workzerk.com.au and see how it feels. If the application loads quickly and feels responsive, WorkZerk will perform well for you.
